Ooi Eng Hong, a co-founder and director of IBS Advisory (M) Sdn. Bhd. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Financial Management from University of Montana, U.S.A..
He started his career with Bank Industri (M) Berhad as a Credit & Marketing Executive. A year later, he was transferred to the then newly established Export-Import Bank Malaysia Berhad. After working for development banks for a total of two years, Ooi Eng Hong was offered a position with The Sakura Bank, Limited, a Japanese offshore bank based in Labuan. He was with The Sakura Bank, Limited for a total of four years.
However, in early year 2000, as the world continued facing economy crisis and retrenchment was a common thing then, Ooi Eng Hong started to realize he needed to reevaluate his future planning seriously. He also realized whenever there is a crisis, there is always opportunities for people who take action to grab them. As such, Ooi Eng Hong decided to give up his lucrative career in offshore banking and started to become an entrepreneur.
After submitting his resignation letter, Ooi Eng Hong’s former employer counter-offered him with better perks. In addition, Ooi Eng Hong also received many objections from his family and friends. However, Ooi Eng Hong was very determined to leave as he has made up his mind pursuing his dream to become a successful entrepreneur.
Today, his remarkable achievements to-date have proven he has made the right decision to leave his employment world and becoming an entrepreneur. Ooi Eng Hong is also aware of the fact that it is not how successful he is but how many people he has helped to succeed. Ooi Eng Hong is even happier when he sees his business partners are doing well and their success has changed their standard of living.
Ooi Eng Hong also holds an MBA from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is also a qualified Certified Financial Planner and Registered Financial Planner.
